Dr. Svoboda: Mentors for boys

For women mainly keeping company with other women we sometimes forget to actively seek out male mentors and teachers, but as Dr. Svoboda suggests, that is exactly what we need to be doing for our boys. We need to find strong role models to provide guidance and help channel the natural ambition testosterone brings. We need to notice the tribes our boys join, who’s leading those tribes and the lessons they are learning from these teachers.

Juice Bar Detox 101

Why drink more juice?

Juice added to a Standard American Diet won’t make much of an impact. It’s more about what you’re taking out. Take everything else out – the coffee and muffin, the turkey sandwich, the chicken and rice, and glass of wine, and your body naturally starts to optimize. For most people, optimizing means detox. Fasting on juice versus water has the added benefit of flushing your cells and energizing your blood and brain.

Unschooling, Yoga, and raising children evolutionaries

A little over a year ago my husband, my child and I decided we wanted to live part time in Mexico for the next phase of our lives together. We committed to the vision by buying a small condo right at at surf break. We knew we were stepping outside the norm of education when we made this decision – as we haven’t found a school with a drop-in policy yet. We all like to ski and ride bikes and surf. Because I can work from anywhere, and my husband has a reliable manager for his business, we are location independent.

Kitchari Recipe

I’m frequently asked for a kitchari recipe. Over the last decade I’ve maybe been asked 300 times. One might think I would have posted a kitchari recipe like this in my first blog post and avoided a few dozen of those emails asking for a recipe. If you want the recipe – click the image and print it. And if you’re wondering why so many people want to eat kitchari, read on.
