Why Yogis Snort Oil

I was 26 years old… raised on the S.A.D. diet. I was a first year student on the way to becoming an Ayurvedic Practitioner. I had horrible seasonal allergies and recurrent migraines. I elected to do Pancha Karma training as part of my Ayurvedic training. (Pancha Karma the vedic system of detox and disease extraction). […]

Sun Salutations Cheat Sheet

In the very beginning of my yoga journey I photocopied the poses from The Iyengar Way. Then, I taped the images to my wall next to where I started my home practice. There is a humility to our bodies aging that bewilders me. How can I make the best of this precious vehicle – this holy abode – for up to 60 more years?

This is the question. I wrote a blog post naming some of the bigger issues and opportunities I see with aging. My sense is it comes down to how we invest. Invest our awareness, which is our time. Invest our dollars in that which inspires us to take up better ways of being in a body. Invest in communities to support our growth, and how we grow our families, and our students families.

Dr. Svoboda: Mentors for boys

For women mainly keeping company with other women we sometimes forget to actively seek out male mentors and teachers, but as Dr. Svoboda suggests, that is exactly what we need to be doing for our boys. We need to find strong role models to provide guidance and help channel the natural ambition testosterone brings. We need to notice the tribes our boys join, who’s leading those tribes and the lessons they are learning from these teachers.
