Yogahealer’s Holiday Thrive Guide
Last week was just plain weird. I know emotions are still reeling. I’m hoping our inner activist takes upon more local and communal responsibility for creating the world we want to live in.
In this effort, I have a new series of Tip Sheets – based on connectivity skills. Before we focus on relationships let’s focus on ourselves.
We’re heading into the holiday season. Here is a tip sheet for you to align and take responsibility for what you experience. Print a few copies. Share with friends.
If you want to make it fancy – send it to your local printer to print on glossy card stock. Gift to anyone who is reeling. Help them dial into their bodies and spirits for this time of being with loved ones.
Our Connectivity Kit release is fast approaching!
What’s the Connectivity Kit all about?
Many of us are at a crossroads in our personal evolution. We’ve grown and had tremendous breakthroughs. We know that our relationships determine much of our day to day reality, and also our future growth.
We want to gift others in line with our evolutionary values. We know that we live in relationship – personal, professional, familial, and dharmic. And if we’re paying close attention – we are focused on evolving a few key relationships in 2017.
That is why I designed the Connectivity Kit – which goes on crazy sale on BLACK FRIDAY next week. The kit has 4 zones, and if you get it – you get to gift it to 3 of the peeps you want to focus on and evolve with in 2017. We suggest you choose a friendship, a mentor-ship (as a mentor or mentee), and a dharma buddy. Think of a few people you want to evolve with in 2017. Take a moment. Write down a name or two.
Food
- Sip Hot Water.
Each morning fill a one-liter thermos with hot water. Sip from it every 20 minutes. The hot water purifies your immune system.
- Pulse your Merry Making with Monastic Meals.
After a day or two of going big, wind it back by having fresh juices and broths for breakfast and dinner. Eat a satisfying lunch. Sip hot water between meals.
- Broth is your Best Friend.
Homemade vegetable or bone broth is rich. In winter we desire rich foods, but often end up mixing in flour and sugar. If you’ve gone overboard, go back to broth.
- Aim for 6 + 9.
On non-festive nights, finish eating for the day by 6 pm and be in bed around 9 pm. In winter, we’re designed to absorb the densest nutrients and stockpile the deepest sleep. Take your rejuvenation seriously, and you’ll step into the New Year a better you.
Focus:
- Go Your Own Pace.
A important tip from Ayurveda is to avoid rushing, worrying, and hurrying. What would your holiday be like without rushing, worrying, and hurrying? Give yourself the gift of going at your own pace. You may end up doing less, but being more.
- Concoct a Seasonal Altar.
Gather a few objects that capture your eye. Clear a special spot to honor that which stirs your heart. If you live with others, ask everyone to contribute.
- Bundle Up and Walk.
As two-legged creatures, our bodies are meant to walk. Early in the morning, a brisk walk will center your mood and align your rhythm. (The early morning walk is especially needful for those who struggle with SAD.) If possible, find a friend to walk with you! Spend more time outside.
- Be a Better Listener.
If you’re reading this, you have shelter and plenty to eat. If you find yourself running around adding to the spending spree, stop. Present your presence. Gift your peeps with your full attention and your time. Be a better listener. Be the one who is grounded with loving attention and compassion. Show you care by caring about what others want to say.
