How to Diagnose Health Problems using Ayurveda

In Ayurveda, understanding a diagnosis and finding a treatment requires you to understand the root cause of the issue. What created your current disease and how can you start to heal your body, mind, and spirit? Cate founded Yogahealer 20 years ago, through the process she has helped many people tackle their health problems. Ayurveda […]
Meditate with a Partner

You may have heard that meditation will help your relationship. Meditation makes you more present, more aware, more curious, more efficient, more available, more resilient, more skillfully communicative, flexible in how you show up and respond, more empathic (aka “nicer to hang with), smarter, more intuitive, less afraid, and more ethical. (For research see here.) […]

Detox Stories
I asked my Yogidetox community for personal yogidetox stories. The stories from my detoxers split open my heart. At the helm of this big ship I can’t know each person’s unique process. I often think I don’t need to guide the Yogidetox anymore – our culture has evolved to making this commonplace enough. Yet these […]

What is your Maha Vaha Srota?
And why should you care?
I assume you like me grew up in the West, and with a Western perspective of the body as machine. The Eastern perspective is really different. Eastern systems see the body as a series of channels that carry consciousness. I know – what a concept. Some of the channels are subtle, like the mind channels and the prana channels. Some of the channels are gross… like the Big One. The Big One is called the Maha Vaha Srota and it is the mouth to anus channel.
Wild Greens Pesto

During last year’s Raw Food Solstice Fest I learned about sweet cicely during our wild plant walk near my house. I’d been eating a lot of dandelion, thistle and nettle, and the SWEET taste of Cicely made me an instant fan. Green and sweet? Sweet.
Mother Nature – Are you with her or against her?

This much has become clear: Either you’re lining up or you’re not. Two steps forward, one step back is still lining up in my book. Nature can’t not nourish you. (Thank you Douglas Brooks for introducing me to the power of double negation.) The more I start eating out of the woods the more […]
3 Tips to Jumpstart your Fall Cleanse

Unsurprisingly enough, as a culture, we don’t fundamentally change what we eat with the seasons. And I’m not just talking about shifting your latte to one with pumpkin pie spice. Of course, the past 40 years is the first epoch in our history that we nailed how to supersede Nature. And obviously, superseding Nature rocks… especially […]
Increase your Lung Capacity

Last month my family camped at Stanley Lake, at the base of Mt. McGowen in the Sawtooth Range of inner Idaho. This neck of the woods claims to have the cleanest air in the lower 48. Forever an opportunist, I decided to maximize my lung capacity on my favorite mountain bike trails. Intense aerobic athletic […]
