Become part of the healthcare solution
Most of us who eat organic plants can recognize an educational healthcare barrier between us and those who eat hormone, petrochemical, synthetic & GMO infiltrated calories. We think healthcare is a lifestyle that involves mind-body-maybe even spirit versus those who think healthcare is a visit to the doctor and taking medications. Those with an appreciation for yoga, meditation, and eating leafy green plants have had numerous tangible experiences of the effects of preventative medicine and health evolution.
It’s more than obvious to most of us that most people out there haven’t had numerous tangible experiences of the effects of preventative medicine and health evolution. Many people don’t have interest. But, many people don’t have access to progressive healthcare experiences.
How can we improve access to progressive healthcare experiences?
Isn’t that the next question? Removing financial and time barriers will help. However, I know that isolated progressive healthcare experiences need support to become a real lifestyle change. So, not only do we need to give access… we also need to give support.
access + support = progress
A support person needs to do 3 things:
- Anchor in the vision of progress.
- Support the vision into action.
- Reflect the journey.
What is my solution?
I’ve decided to create 20 buddy-system-based sponsored spaces in the Yogidetox courses. This means, if you take the Yogidetox, and you want to support someone IN YOUR COMMUNITY who wants a supported progressive healthcare experience, I’ll give them a free pass. Together, we create an effective grassroots approach to progressive healthcare in communities around the world.
Who needs your help?
Watch this short video to get a clear picture of what I’m talking about.
- I will take 20 people without the means to take the April or May Yogidetox for free with 20 sponsors who have paid for their own Spring 2012 Yogidetox course.
- If you’d like to sponsor someone, reply to this post or email Cate. You can also email a Youtube video stating your cause.
To be considered, please pitch me in the Comments below:
- Your commitment as a sponsor-buddy.
- The situation of the person in need (they can write it).
- Why you both should be chosen.
- (If you need to keep it private for any reason, email me.)

Posted at 15:58h, 25 MarchHi Cate,
I would like to apply to be a sponsor/buddy for my frined, Tukta.
Tukta is an amazingly brave and strong woman. As my most dedicated yoga student, I always knew I could count on her to be in class. Three feet of snow, below zero temps and school holidays didn’t keep her away. She has always been committed to yoga and health, always open to new information and new ways of seeing things. Then, one day, something did keep her away from class – breast cancer.
Throughout her treatment, she continued to read and learn more and to be an advocate for her own health. Despite feeling like crap, she kept up her meditation, and tried to do a little asana or take a walk, when she had the energy.
Her treatment ended a couple of months ago, and she’s doing great now. She’s back to yoga and riding her bike (yes, it’s warm enough to ride a bike here, believe it or not!) She’s got some joint pain and tiredness from the medicines, and really feels pulled to detox. Her treatment, as you can imagine, was exhorbitantly expensive. Despite having insurance, her family was strapped by the out-of-pocket expenses. When I first told her about the YogiDetox, she was excited about it, but then told me that there was just no way for her to afford it at this time.
I would love to sponsor Tukta for the May detox. This is my third time doing it, and I know how transformational it is. Every time I’ve done it, I’ve gone a little deeper, and I really think this time is going to big a big shift for me. I think that being a sponsor for Tukta will not only be good for her, but for me as well! I’m hoping other members of our little yoga community will be joining us as well.
Pick us, for the reasons above and because we’re passionate about health and spreading the message of wellness to our families and friends, school and community. You know I’m into writing, journaling and blogging, so I’ll be happy to chronicle our journey. Thanks for considering us!
