Honest with Your Bad Self? Assessment (Part 1)

It’s that time of year again… we can feel the change in the seasons arriving. The hurricanes are taunting the east coast of the US, the daylight is noticeably changing, and with it, internal energy is shifting. We are craving change, on a physical and a mental level, whether we openly admit it to ourselves or not.

I love this time of year. The fields around my house are bursting with flowering thistle, I’m going to bed with the sunset, and I’m savoring every last mountain bike adventure, knowing that soon I’ll be back out there snowboarding. Modern culture does not celebrate the transition from summer to winter … it’s seen as a tragedy, and therefore we fight it. We do love fall because of Pumpkin Spice Lattes, cozy clothes, and the break from summer heat. The first snowfall is special. It means the Holidays are near … but after the magic wears off, it is seen as something to merely survive.

However, everything ebbs and flows. We can’t avoid things because they aren’t shiny and perfect. That sounds boring! Are you carrying extra pounds from the summer fun? Are you having trouble focusing at work? Do you have difficulty sleeping? Be honest about it NOW and identify action steps, so you can feel thrive in your body and mind, make healthier choices during the Holiday Season, and head into the New Year stronger than ever!
