Winter Solstice Ojas Building Rituals
The rhythm of the Winter Solstice is slow and inward. The slowing down builds ojas, the subtle energy of Kapha dosha. Kapha means to nourish or nurture, and is the growth and repair mechanism in our cells. Winter is the time to build our annual ojas, and the Winter Solstice is the kick-off event for this cycle.
Ojas is your immune system. From Ayurveda, ojas is like a subtle gel of connective consciousness which contains the raw energy and intelligence of prana and inspired glow of tejas throughout our body. When Ojas and the subtle doshas are deepening – you are not only healthy, you are relaxed and on purpose.
Tap into Winter Solstice to build your ojas.
This is not one more thing to do.
This is not one more thing to buy.
It’s one less thing to do.
It’s one less thing to buy.
Building ojas is grounding and builds your inner and outer bank account. Take time for yourself. Here are 2 simple luxurious rituals to re-juice yourself. (Great to do with a child).
A Sacred Scrub & Tub
Simply mix ¼ cup coarse sea salt with 1 T sesame oil. Stir to coat the salt grains. Even if you think you have no time to scrub, set the jar by the tub. You’ll see, a few minutes is all you need, and you will feel so good afterwards!
Add drops of essential oil if desired. Clary sage is clarifying; eucalyptus opens your lungs; ginger warms you up. Add fresh herbs for color or fun – lavender, jasmine or rose adds scent and beauty.
Vivify Your Hair
- Blend 1/2 c. greek yogurt
- Beat an egg until frothy and pour it into the blender
- Add 1 tbsp. raw honey to the blender
- Add one teaspoon of fresh lemon juice
- Dry hair : add one teaspoon of Vitamin E oil into the conditioner
- Oily hair: add 3 or 4 drops of tea tree oil
Blend the conditioner and apply after shampooing, massaging gently into the scalp to the end of the hair. Allow the conditioner to set for about 15 minutes before rinsing well with warm water.
